Laurie has been a police officer in Arizona for 15 years and has trained hundreds of police officers in self-defense and personal protection. She is also a certified “Fight Like A Girl” instructor for the Women’s Self-Defense Institute. During her law enforcement career, she has had specific training on crimes against women and children. This real world knowledge and experience is integrated into all azPlayItSafe training. Laurie also has extensive knowledge in the use of personal defense products, such as pepper spray and TASER.

Laurie’s passion is empowering women and children and giving them the tools they need to be confident, powerful and self-reliant. She has conducted classes for colleges, high schools, local businesses, Girl Scout troops, teen groups, and mother’s groups.

Laurie is the mother of three children and has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
